The public association “Union of Veterinary Practice Owners” (UVPO) is the only organization in Ukraine that brings together exclusively practicing licensed veterinarians—owners of licensed veterinary clinics, outpatient clinics, and veterinary stations.
We operate on the principle of professional self-governance, which complies with the requirements of the World Veterinary Association (WVA) and European associations.
We bring together up to 150 licensed veterinarians (34 full members). Our team includes the “Galeks” Law Firm and the “Zeus” Auditing Firm. Our representative serves on the Public Council of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
We are full members of the World Veterinary Association (WVA) and associate members of FECAVA and UEVP.
To preserve the veterinary profession in Ukraine, because only through practicing veterinarians can we effectively save animals and protect human well-being.
To create conditions under which licensed veterinarians can work consistently, provide high-quality care to animals, and have their voices heard both in Ukraine and around the world. We strive for long-term cooperation with responsible donors, demonstrating that transparent, accountable, and professional work is possible even during wartime.
The number of abandoned and stray animals in Ukraine continues to grow. The number of veterinarians is declining—vets are moving from the east to the west in search of stable employment. The animals that remain need not only spaying and neutering but also medical treatment. The rabies situation is worsening.
Without functioning clinics and veterinarians, it is impossible to effectively rescue animals and protect human health. That is why our main goal is to preserve the veterinary profession.
We provide assistance through the licensees themselves who have been affected by the war—whether they have lost loved ones, become internally displaced persons, or continue to work near the front lines. Through them, aid reaches socially vulnerable groups, volunteers, animal caregivers, and shelters.
Every animal that has received assistance can be found in the animal-id.info database. We publish regular reports. Anyone can contact the project manager.
We are participating in the creation of a pet registry, which is intended to become a digital pet passport within the “Diya” app in the future. We have also actively collaborated on implementing the process for obtaining a veterinary practice license through the e-Permit system and the “Diya” portal.
Unity—strength lies in coming together. We are building a close-knit community where a united voice enables us to achieve more.
Development — we don’t just support the business; we strive for its qualitative growth through innovation, training, and enhancing the profession’s prestige.
Protection — we are a reliable shield for the veterinary business. We defend licensees’ rights in dialogue with the government and in response to external threats.
Leadership - We take responsibility for the future of the industry, initiate large-scale projects, and set new standards.
Professionalism—at the heart of our work—is rooted in a deep respect for the veterinary profession, high standards of quality, and ethics.
The unification process began in 2017 during the blocking of the bill on the Veterinary Chamber. In 2020, we officially registered the NGO “Union of Veterinary Practice Owners.”

We maintain a public page titled “Heroes of Veterinary Medicine”. To date, we have confirmed 108 names of veterinarians who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom. These are only the cases we have been able to verify. The true toll on our profession is significantly higher.
