We are proud to inform you that the #SaveVets_SafePets project is COMPLETED!!

In April 2023, the Public Organization "Society of Veterinary Business Owners" launched one more project, the main goal of which was to help animals affected by a full-scale war. And in July 2023, we successfully reported with #SaveVets_SafePetsproject to our grantors project to our grantors [Trupanion](https://www.facebook.com/Trupanion/) and [ Mighytvet]**(https://mightyvet.org/)

As a result of our work, we covered more than half of the territory of Ukraine, which is 12 oblasts, 25 veterinary clinics of Ukraine. 2578 animals were operated on, vaccinated and identified, of which 73% were cats and 27% were dogs. The number of people we helped is 1578 people.

The uniqueness of this project lies in the fact that we changed the conditions under which clinics could become participants in the project, because we introduced 5 main categories (those affected by the war) in order to help animals as quickly as possible in this difficult time. We also spayed animals in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine (5 locations of mobile surgery).

P.S. Every report can be checked by following the hashtags #SaveVets_SafePetsand #PawsForUkrainein social media (Facebook and Instagram) for every licensee institution that participated in the program .

Unfortunately, Russian aggression in Ukraine has not ended since receiving the last Grant, even has become stronger. Every day, the aggressor fires at our country and commits international crimes (Kherson, Odesa, Sumy, Kakhovka Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant etc.), leaving people homeless, taking their lives and the lives of their animals. For example, on the 3rd of July 2023, in the city of Sumy, there were raids and destruction of civilian houses on the street where the veterinary clinic of the Head of this “SaveVets_SafePets” Project Andrii Klietsov is located. The primary goal we set even before receiving the Fundings by this Grant was to improve and make it better than the previous one. After receiving the funding of the second grant by MightyVet, we started implementing the grant program #PawsForUkraine #SaveVets_SafePets. We have achieved the initial goals that were set out in the grant agreement, including:

  • providing the engagement of practicing veterinary licensees – doctors of veterinary medicine during the war in Ukraine;
  • providing the free package of services for owners and guardians of animals belonging to vulnerable population groups, suffered from hostilities or were forcibly displaced;
  • spaying (sterilization of female animals) of animals, their identification and vaccination against rabies.

Along with this, within the framework of the second grant by MightyVet, we implemented and achieved new goals. In particular:

  • we carried out on-site spayings in the de-occupied territories, where people lost almost everything, and there are no veterinary clinics for providing assistance to animals. At the same time, the number of animals is increasing every day.

Analyzing the set and fulfilled goals of this project, we made a positive impact on One Health. Including:

  • to contribute to the prevention of the zooanthroponosis’ spreading due to the vaccination against rabies;
  • to regulate the number of animals, thanks to the performed spaying within the project;
  • prevent additional suffering of animals, provide high-quality veterinary services;
  • to preserve the profession of the doctor of veterinary medicine providing the permanent vets’ engagement in Ukraine, reducing the number of migrants abroad. In this way, we preserved and supported the positive mood and spirit of doctors of veterinary medicine, showing that even under conditions of war we continue to work thanks to the support of international partners;
  • identification of animals, which helps to control the transparency of the grant funds’ usage.

Currently we have our planned practical result by the implementation of the #SaveVets_SafePets grant, and sincere feedback in the hearts of many people from our target groups. Funds provided by MIGHTYVET were effectively implemented by veterinary licensees in vet clinics in different parts of Ukraine. Agreements have been concluded with 25 participants of the program, which carry out activities in Kharkiv Region (Kharkov city, Chuguiv city, Kozachcha Lopan village, Bezlyubivka village), Donetsk Region (Pokrovsk city), Sumy Region (city of Sumy, Putivl, Okhtyrka, Glukhiv, Trostyanets, Konotop , Shostka), Chernihiv Region (Chernihiv city, Pryluky town), Mykolaiv Region (Pervomaisk town), Dnipropetrovsk Region (Dnipro city), Poltava Region (Kremenchuk city), Cherkasy Region (Uman city). We also provided assistance to displaced persons – vets from the cities of Kherson, Bakhmut, Siverskyi Donets, Kivsharivka, and Mariupol.

We’re moving together to the Victory!!!
